The major objectives of this project are:

Preserve a valuable component of the national technological infrastructure

Establish a Center of Excellence in the aerodynamics of transportation systems

Develop innovative educational programs for students at all levels

Achieve 1-3 within an efficient, productive, and economically viable, self-sustaining organization

goals.12

ODU's focus has been on expanding and transitioning the unique full-scale aerodynamic test capabilities of the LFST to the diverse transportation system applications of the private sector.

goals.3

ODU will also develop strong research, educational and training components as part of its operations. Because of its size the LFST is a truly unique laboratory where students can be exposed to real-world engineering problems, and be inspired by its long and rich history.
