UAV_Formation_Flight_Testing

UAV formation flight testing for Bihrle Applied Research/US Air Force.

BWB_X-48B

Boeing X-48B 8.5% scale Blended Wing Body remotely piloted vehicle model undergoing stability and control testing on the external balance. Flight test of a sister ship to follow at NASA Dryden.

BWB_x-48_Free_Flight

Free flight testing of 5% Scale Blended Wing Body by NASA LaRC. Vehicle umbilical provides high pressure air for engine simulation, control surface actuator power, instrumentation links, and a safety tether. The aircraft is flown in the test section and dynamic data is recorded.

BWB_X-48_Static

Static testing of 5% Scale Blended Wing Body by NASA LaRC.

Lewk_UAV

Power on test of SAIC LEWK UAV strut mounted on external balance.

BAI_UAV_2

Power on test of BAI Aerosystems UAV strut mounted on external balance.

BAI_UAV_1

Power on test of BAI Aerosystems UAV strut mounted on external balance.

Semispan_Icing_Test

Semispan wing icing test for Bihrle Applied Research/NASA Glenn. Ice shapes were tested on a business jet wing using a special floor mounted semispan strain gage balance.

Refueling_study

Refueling study for Bihrle Applied Research/US Air Force. Tests were conducted to flowfields and measure interactions between aircraft in close formation flight during refueling.

F-18_high_alpha_beta02

16% F-18 model at high angle of attack and sideslip. Test for Bihrle Applied Research/NAVAIR to investigate the outer reaches of the flight envelope.

f15cone2

Full-Scale F-15 Forebody test for Bihrle Applied Research/US Air Force. Tests were conducted to identify the source of large yaw moments experienced at high angles of attack. The culprit was found to be a very small cap on the radome tip which must be attached dead center or else powerful asymmetric vortices will develop.

stec2

Power on test of DRS Sentry UAV on T-Bar support.
